The following is a collection of my favorite podcasts, where I continue to educate myself. Some of my favorites are entrepreneurs or authors who do some promotion of their books or workshops, and many of them are just interesting shows in a “radio like” format.

Now that I am not interested in having news on constantly (because I find myself overwhelmed by it some days), I like to have good and positive things to listen to on my commute to work. So if you want some suggestions, here are my faves with short reviews:

Pivot with Jenny Blake: provides different ways of looking at careers, business and life. Jenny often talks about the intersection of spirituality and business, and I really appreciate her perspective on following intuition and paying attention to body and soul when it comes to our work, career and personal tracks. While Jenny is a decade younger than me, she has real wisdom when it comes to careers of the future and coaching.

Hidden Brain – helps curious people understand the world – and themselves. Using science and storytelling, Hidden Brain’s host Shankar Vedantam reveals the unconscious patterns that drive human behavior, the biases that shape our choices, and the triggers that direct the course of our relationships. If you are an NPR listener, you may have heard this on the radio as well.

Becoming Wise – This is a short-form podcast with short excerpts from interviews contained in the On Being podcast, which I also love. Becoming Wise is a short form podcast and I have to admit, I bought Krista Tippett’s book after listening to all 20 of these short form podcasts. It was lovely as well, but this is a great and insightful podcast series that may appeal to you if you are interested in spiritual growth and the spiritual in every day life.

Side Hustle School  – this is a fun one about creative ideas that people try in order to make side income outside their regular job. Give it a try if you are creative and have considered supplementing your income with a hobby that you love.

Magic Lessons – this is a lovely podcast created by Elizabeth Gilbert, probably to sell her book. But it was really amazing in terms of giving me ideas for how to think about my creative endeavors. Liz is just the most endearing person and I really enjoyed the two season series – I may go back and listen to it again just because it got me inspired. I bought both her hard copy book and the Audible version because I love her voice so much.

The Life Coach School podcast – this is created by Brooke Castillo. I give her a lot of credit for helping me learn a few key concepts that have helped me lose weight, become more aware of my thoughts and feelings, give up drinking, and reduce my problems with over-eating. I have never actually attended any of her workshops, but I have learned so much from this free podcast that I am really grateful for it.

Super Soul Conversations, the podcast. Oprah Winfrey brings her Super Soul conversations to a format for those of us who do not watch t.v. I love her conversations especially with Eckhart Tolle, Brene Brown, Elizabeth Gilbert, Paul Coelho, Rob Bell, Jimmy Carter and many other fascinating individuals. Inspiring and soulful conversations.

Good Life Project with Jonathan Fields – This podcast explores all of the aspects of what it means to life a good life. I also enjoyed the book How to Life a Good Life – Soulful Stories, Surprising Science and Practical Wisdom, which I listed to on audio book because I enjoy Jonathan’s voice. The guests that he interviews are often wise and share various insights on how to live in a way that invites more vitality, creativity and joy into their lives. Many of his guests are entrepreneurs or creators in their fields and I really enjoy so many of the topics he covers. While they are not all applicable to my life, I have definitely found many to be beneficial.

Happier with Gretchen Rubin – This podcast is a dialogue between Gretchen Rubin and her sister, Elizabeth Craft. I enjoy hearing their suggestions for living a happier a life. I loved Gretchen’s book Better Than Before, and I pre-ordered The Four Tendencies and look forward to reading it, because I think she has tremendous insight on human nature and habit change.

I am not receiving any money to promote these podcasts. Occasionally when I link to books I include an Amazon or Audible link. But I am not “selling” anything here, just recommending content that I have enjoyed or teachers and authors I love and want to share with you, my dear readers.

    1. That depends on what you want to learn. Hidden Brain always teaches me something new and provides a different way of looking at the world. On Being has really rich interviews and always seems to inspire hope in me. I’ve really needed alternatives to radio. Even though I’m a big supporter of public radio I just cannot listen to the news for extended periods anymore. While silence is always a healthy alternative my brain seems to like other edifying content as well. Happy listening! 🌹
