Saturday Share

This week’s Saturday Share is Muddling Through My Middle Age.

Ann Coleman has such wisdom and writes about a lot of topic that interest me, evolving into our next phase of life, overcoming fears, ditching bad habits. She has a dear heart and works with rescue dogs. She writes beautifully and I enjoy reading her posts.

Happy Saturday, All!

Saturday Share

This Saturday’s share is from Leo The Nerdy Lion.  He has got some great stuff on how to promote your blog and on writing. I enjoy his sense of humor and gives helpful advice. I have not been able to subscribe to the idea of the once a week post but we all have to follow our own path there. 😉

Saturday Share

It’s Saturday and time again for some blog love to a favorite that I follow.

I also discovered Simple Life Experiment: less stress, less stuff, less waste by Lisa, a minimalist. She recently started a podcast as well, which is short and sweet and gets right to the point as well. Check it out when you are looking for inspiration on ways to live life with more of what you want, like love and joy, and less of what weighs you down (stuff and perfectionism).

snowy Saturday

It’s the day before EASTER, for goodness sake.

This Saturday I bring you a snowy Minnesota, day before Easter picture so you can see why I am looking forward to my long weekend in Arizona in only 6 days. When I returned home from my trip this Wednesday, I noted that most of the snow had melted off, and there were only some remnants from the big piles that had been made. But here you can see what we deal with in so-called Spring. And you can also see that my Willy-cat has made a mess of our screen if you look closely. Lol.

So anyway, not that I want your sympathy, but this is perhaps why Minnesotans can be prolific writers in the winter – weather conditions make it necessary to write so we retain our sanity!

Today I would like to refer a blog called Empowered Everyday. The posts are short and sweet, always have a compelling graphic and often hit me exactly with what I need for some inspiration for the day. I have enjoyed reading and perhaps you will too.

Happy Saturday, friends! If you celebrate Easter I hope you enjoy it. And if you are in a place where Spring has actually arrived, I hope you are able to get outside – let me know what that is like since we seem to be stuck in Narnia and an everlasting winter here. 😉

Saturday Share

It is Saturday Share day so I will take a day  off writing and instead highlight a couple of blogs that I have discovered and enjoy.

Dr. PerryThe first one is Dr. Perry of the MakeItUltra™Psychology to Motivate blog. Dr. Perry is a psychotherapist from Sherman Oaks, California. He writes about self-care, depression, anxiety, narcissism, grief, and many other topics of interest in psychology. His writing is clear and relevant to the problems and issues of today.

Dr. Perry also gives back generously to the blogging community by allowing space on his site for others to promote their blogs as well.  This exemplifies a generous spirit of creating space for others while contributing to our knowledge of psychology. Check out his blog if you get a chance.

calling in well.JPGAnother blog I like is Calling In Well, which documents experiments and adventures in well-being. The categories are: food, happiness, health, mindfulness and travel. All kinds of my favorite things. Conceptually I love the idea of calling in well. Her photography is beautiful and I enjoy reading women who (like me) do their own experiments in various wellness practices and write about it.

So if you are looking for some good reads on your weekend, check them out and give them some love.

Hope you have an awesome weekend, friends! Make the most of it!

Saturday Share

In honor of my blog community and the enormous value of the people I have encountered since starting this endeavor last September, I want to introduce a weekly “Saturday Share” tradition here. I actually started this last week, and I think it is a good practice.

My intention is to highlight a couple of blogs that I have discovered in the process of this writing journey, and to bring attention to other wise voices on the web. As we consider what we get from having the miracle of a public platform that is the web, I think it is fitting that we give back to this community.

When blogging becomes all about us, and our own voices, we risk narcissism and self-importance. It is actually about dialogue, and interaction. When it is done well, I think blogging is about connecting and sharing with others. So many people have wisdom to share and to teach. I know I am grateful to process through writing the things I learn, and share what works for me, and hear from you.  Some of my processing is personal, and is done in the privacy of my handwritten journal, and some of it is done here.

So in the interest of enjoying a Saturday up north in Bemidji, spending some quality time with my hubby, and giving myself a little break from my endless voice, here are a couple of blogs I think you would enjoy if  you like mine. 😉

Check out a Fractured Faith blog. Some very interesting reflections here from a couple in Northern Ireland. While the particular faith may not be an exact match with my own, I always appreciate the wisdom and reflection.

If you enjoy poetry and haiku, check out Lize Bard, who writes Haiku out of Africa. As you know, if you have read my work, I have a weekly Sunday haiku. I love the art form, and Lize always includes beautiful art as well.

I will start with these two for today, and every Saturday will pick a couple of blogs I like to share. Please recommend others in the comments if you have favorites also!

Happy Saturday! Hope you all do something fun and step away from the web to interact with real people, not just the virtual peeps. 😉

Oh Calvin

I just read a most lovely post by a blogger who writes so beautifully about the experiences she has had with precious pets in her life in “love lives on.” The photos she posts of her dear spirit guides melt my heart sometimes. If you are a dog lover, or a pet lover in general, check out her blog.

In honor of the fact that my big fat cat Calvin has his arm tucked into my left arm, making it a little difficult for me to type today, and he is purring so loud & contentedly, I will dedicate this post to him and keep it short today.

Another blogger I enjoy, Jessie Brown, (aka Hoosier Mystic) talks about loneliness this week and the things she has learned. She has a cat also, and she wrote a post that resonated with me as well about loneliness, the value of touch and of connections, human and otherwise.

We are wired for connection, and we are also wired for courage. Though it may be hard for us to show our vulnerabilities sometimes, it is necessary for us to be vulnerable to truly experience love. What a gift it is when we can experience any difficult emotion, be it loneliness or grief, and know we can sit with it and sit with ourselves quietly. It will pass, as all emotions do, but being true to what we feel and allowing it, perhaps naming it, rather than running is a balm for the soul.

Thanks for reading. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
